June 7th was the last day of school for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where many students left school grounds with excitement and anticipation of summertime. But for the homeless CMS children, the reality of summer is not fun-filled and carefree. Instead, they are left worrying about their next meal and where they will lay their head down each night. Trips to the beach are replaced with nights spent in emergency shelters, motels, or cars.

For the first time, ACP is strategically supporting children and families over the summer through a new community-based program. You can help us serve more families and provide critical resources to our clients!

Join us in eliminating the barriers that may be impeding lasting sustainability!

Each year, nearly 5,000 CMS students are living in a housing crisis. Children experiencing homelessness are at greater risk for health problem, and have a reduced capacity to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. For the past 30 years, A Child’s Place has intentionally tackled the effects of homelessness on children and their education. Our experiencing has taught us that it takes stamina, commitment, collaboration, and partnerships to put an end to generational poverty and homelessness.
