A Child’s Place will celebrate our signature fundraising gala, A Night of 4,000 Dreams, on Friday, May 10, 20179 from 6:30 pm – 10:30 pm at The Westin Charlotte. Guests will enjoy dinner, drinks and dancing while bidding on trips, activities, and goods. Funds raised from the event support critical basic needs and intensive case management for the most vulnerable population in our community.

A Child’s Place served 2,002 homeless students in 15 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools during the 2018 school year.

Have a positive impact on these students by volunteering as a classroom assistant, lunch buddy, or tutor.

Help boost a child’s academic success, self-esteem, and achieve their goals and dreams.

Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Lunch Buddy: Lunch buddies come to school once a week (one hour including travel time) to have lunch with your buddy, talk, play games, or read.

Become a Tutor: Tutors assist students for one hour per week with homework, studying, and developing reading and math skills.

Become a Classroom Assistant: Classroom assistants help in an assigned classroom (1-2 hours/week) facilitating classroom activities with the teacher (individual tutoring, small group activities, art projects, or checking papers).
