CHARLOTTE, NC — The sole special fundraising event for A Child’s Place is a truly unique gala. A celebrity autographed piggy bank auction called “They’re Banking On You: A Swine Evening” presented by Time Warner Cable. A Swine Evening will be held on June 4, 2011 at Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel in Charlotte from 7:00-10:30pm. To enhance auction values, we “package” the piggy banks with great items, and experiences that otherwise could not be bought. A Child’s Place is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.
Sir Paul McCartney needs no introduction. As the front man for The Beatles and Wings, McCartney is the most commercially successful songwriter in the history of popular music. As a performer or songwriter, McCartney was responsible for 32 number one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and has sold 15.5 million albums in the US alone. McCartney autographed this piggy bank while in town for his sold-out Charlotte performance at Time Warner Cable Arena.
A true “one in a million” pig, the Paul McCartney piggy bank will not be decorated before the auction event. His many different themes and styles throughout his musical career make it difficult to choose just one design. Therefore, it was decided to leave the pig in the natural state so that the winner could decide how it should be decorated. In order to win this “one of a kind” pig you must attend A Swine Evening and bid on it during our live auction.
Along with an autographed pig the winner will receive a week long stay at any Starwood Hotel or Interval International location (US and International) and a $1,500 airfare gift card from US AIRWAYS.
A Child’s Place annual fundraiser, “A Swine Evening,” presented by Time Warner Cable features 77 celebrity autographed piggy banks and 20 “kid pigs” designed by ACP client children. Pigs are auctioned off through our silent, live and Ebay auctions. This “black tie optional” event will be held at the Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel at 2800 Coliseum Center Drive, Charlotte, NC from 7:00pm-10:30pm on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Tickets are on sale for $150 per person, or $1,500 per table (8 seats).
Interested in buying tickets to attend? Want to sponsor a table? Or just want more information? Visit our website www.aswineevening.com to purchase your tickets or to read all the details.
About A Child’s Place
Homelessness for children isn’t just about where they lay their heads at night; it’s about where their heads are during the day at school, too. Founded in 1989, A Child’s Place of Charlotte is working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education, reaching nearly 1,600 children during the 2009-10 school year. Unfortunately, some 4,453 homeless students are enrolled in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. To learn more about A Child’s Place, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, or to make a donation, call 704-343-3790 or visit www.achildsplace.org.
