CHARLOTTE, NC — The sole special fundraising event for A Child’s Place is a truly unique gala! A celebrity autographed piggy bank auction called “They’re Banking On You: A Swine Evening” presented by Time Warner Cable will be held on June 4, 2011 at Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel in Charlotte from 7:00-10:30pm. To enhance auction values, we “package” the piggy banks with great items, and experiences that otherwise could not be bought. A Child’s Place is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.
Teen Idol Justin Bieber took time out of his busy international tour schedule to autograph a pig for Charlotte’s homeless children. Bieber won Artist of the Year at the winning Artist of the Year at the 2010 American Music Awards, and being nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards, among others. His first full studio release, My World 2.0, has debuted at number one and within the top ten of several countries and was certified platinum in the United States.
Justin Bieber’s autographed piggy bank will be auctioned off on Ebay starting May 28th, and closing during the A Swine Evening event, June 4th at 9:00pm. His pig was put on Ebay because of his large fan base around the world. There will be no package included with his signed piggy bank.
A Child’s Place annual fundraiser, “A Swine Evening,” presented by Time Warner Cable features 77 celebrity autographed piggy banks and 20 “kid pigs” designed by ACP client children. Pigs are auctioned off through our silent, live and Ebay auctions. This “black tie optional” event will be held at the Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel at 2800 Coliseum Center Drive, Charlotte, NC from 7:00pm-10:30pm on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Tickets are on sale for $150 per person, or $1,500 per table (8 seats).

About A Child’s Place
Homelessness for children isn’t just about where they lay their heads at night; it’s about where their heads are during the day at school, too. Founded in 1989, A Child’s Place of Charlotte is working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education, reaching nearly 1,600 children during the 2009-10 school year. Unfortunately, some 4,453 homeless students are enrolled in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. To learn more about A Child’s Place, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, or to make a donation, call 704-343-3790 or visit www.achildsplace.org.
