CHARLOTTE, NC — On Tuesday, March 29th, 2011 from 11:00am to 11:00pm all Charlotte area Chili’s Restaurants will be participating in “ACP DAY” to make a difference in the lives of the 4,453 homeless children attending Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Chili’s/Pepper Dining will donate 10% of increased sales from each store that day to A Child’s Place (ACP.) ACP is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.

“It was a shock to see just how many local children are homeless,” says Rick Zioncheck, Area Director for Chili’s/Pepper Dining. “We can’t change their circumstances but we can help A Child’s Place make those children’s lives a little easier.

“We are so grateful for the support our client children receive from Chili’s/Pepper Dining each year,” says ACP Executive Director Annabelle Suddreth. “This is such a creative way for them – and hungry people all over our area – to help homeless children!

Want to help? Just grab a group of friends and dine in or order to-go at any local Chili’s location and the cost of your meal will go into the total sales of the day. In fact, plan to skip breakfast then eat lunch and dinner at Chili’s on the 29th. Have Chili’s cater a meeting that day. Better yet, plan a “date night” with a special someone and help support ACP’s work with the 4,453 homeless children in Charlotte. Chili’s/Pepper Dining will donate 10% of increased sales on that day to A Child’s Place.

Chili’s/Pepper Dining representatives will be available at their Arboretum location, 8136 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28277 PH: 704-541-8799. To schedule an interview with an A Child’s Place representative, please contact Emily Arceneaux at 704-943-9500 or earceneaux@achildsplace.org.

About A Child’s Place
Homelessness for children isn’t just about where they lay their heads at night; it’s about where their heads are during the day at school, too. Founded in 1989, A Child’s Place of Charlotte is working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education, reaching nearly 1,600 children during the 2009-10 school year. Unfortunately, some 4,453 homeless students are enrolled in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. To learn more about A Child’s Place, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, or to make a donation, call 704-343-3790 or visit www.achildsplace.org.
