We hope you’ll consider pulling out your golf clubs and joining us on May 13 at River Run Country Club for the 2nd Annual Swing Fore A Child’s Place golf tournament to help provide summer camp for homeless children in Mecklenburg County.

It’s hard to believe, but there are more than 4,700 homeless children in Mecklenburg County! That’s children just like ours who don’t have a bed of their own to sleep on at night and often don’t know whether they’ll be sleeping in a car or a hotel or on a relative’s sofa that night. You can imagine the toll that takes on their ability to concentrate and perform in school. The My Place summer camp, offered by A Child’s Place, provides homeless children with a safe place to go during the summer, academic tutoring to help catch them up to grade level, two hot meals each day, swimming lessons and other enrichment activities.
Last year, thanks to many of you, the inaugural Swing Fore golf tournament raised $70,000, enabling A Child’s Place to add a third My Place camp site and expand the program from 100 to 150 children. We are committed to making that happen again this year and hope you will join us, either as a player or a sponsor, in the 2nd Annual Swing Fore A Child’s Place golf tournament!
Each year the tournament will get bigger and better, and this year we can’t wait for you to see what we have planned! Please check out the attached brochure or visit http://swingfore2012.eventbrite.com for details and to register!
thanks so much!
