Community members are invited to register for the first annual Swing Fore A Child’s Place golf tournament Tuesday, April 24, at River Run Country Club in Davidson. Players will enjoy a day of golf, food and prizes while helping impact the lives of homeless children in Mecklenburg County.

Charlotte, NC — A Child’s Place provides homeless children with educational, emotional and health support, helping to keep them healthy and in the classroom.

Tee-off time is 1 p.m. at the club, at 15125 River Falls Drive. All registered players will receive a box lunch donated by Just Fresh and other local delis and will enjoy a barbeque dinner following the golf game. Also, players will be able to bid in the silent auction for tickets to hot events such as a Duke basketball game at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, a Panthers game and a group golf outing at the exclusive Merion golf club on Long Island.

WANT TO PLAY?

Registration is $200 per player at www.swingfore.eventbrite.com, and all proceeds raised will go to A Child’s Place to help fund its My Place Summer Camp program for homeless children.

The 8-week enrichment camp provides homeless children in Mecklenburg County with academic help, field trips, swimming lessons and daily hot lunches and breakfasts. After participating in the program, 97 percent of campers maintained or boosted their reading skills to grade level, and 96 percent met grade-level goals in math.
