CHARLOTTE—Members of the United Way’s young leaders put together snack packs for ‘A Child’s Place’ during their lunch hour.
The volunteer effort is part of the United Way’s Fight Hunger campaign. Many of the young professionals said it is an easy way to give back to their community.
“This is over our lunch hour. I’m dressed to go to work today, I’m here for one hour and then I’m headed back to work. And we’ve packed a thousand plus of snack packs for A Child’s Place. So I feel like it doesn’t take that much time to really make a big difference,” said volunteer Brooke Gibson.
In addition to making snack packs, volunteers also learned more about other ways they can assist A Child’s Place, which tries to lessen the impact of homelessness on children.
