CHARLOTTE, N.C. — American Bus Association members presented A Child’s Place, a local nonprofit that helps homeless children in Charlotte, N.C., a check for $40,000 at the annual ABA Marketplace at the Charlotte Convention Center.
ABA members held several events during Marketplace, Jan. 5 – 9, to raise money for A Child’s Place. Each year, ABA selects a local nonprofit as part of its Marketplace Gives Back program. With this donation, Marketplace Gives Back has now raised more than $240,000 for deserving nonprofits in communities where Marketplace has been held since 2007.
“Since A Child’s Place was selected to be part of Marketplace Gives Back, our nonprofit has been thrilled to work with the American Bus Association and its members,” said Annabelle Suddreth, executive director of A Child’s Place. “This wonderful $40,000 donation will be used to improve the lives of homeless children. The ABA’s members have been so incredibly generous, and I know our children thank them for the kindness.”
“The team in Charlotte is committed to making sure those boys and girls who have been put into the terribly difficult situation of being homeless have equal educational opportunities,” said ABA President and CEO Peter J. Pantuso. “The ABA and its members are honored to help raise the money and also raise the public’s awareness of the problem of homeless children and how education and keeping them in school is essential to their success.”
